Don’t let the Chevy key fob programming process overwhelm you, as it’s quite simple and straightforward. Follow these steps to successfully program your Chevy key fob from the comfort of your own home or garage:

  1. Unlock your car door manually with your Chevy key.
  2. Make sure that all of your car’s doors are shut. Then, put the key in the ignition without actually starting the car.
  3. Press and hold down the “unlock” button on the driver’s side door. Then, turn your key to the “on” position. You should see the interior lights and radio turn on, but the engine shouldn’t be ignited yet.
  4. Turn the key to the “off” position, turn it back to the “on” position, and turn it back to “off” in a quick motion.
  5. Release the “unlock” button.
  6. When you’ve released the “unlock” button, you should hear the door locks engage and disengage. This is how you know that the Chevy key fob programming sequence has begun.
  7. Press and hold the “unlock” and “lock” buttons on your Chevy key fob at the same time. Keep them held down until you hear the door locks engage and disengage again.
  8. Now, put the Chevy key fob into the ignition, turning it to the “on” position. This will end the Chevy key fob programming process.
